| Post subject: | Mounting Engine to engine stand |
Just wondering how to mount a Slant on a engine stand CORRECTLY. Do I want the center of the engine stand mounting plate centered with the crank? What holes on the back of the block should I use? |

There are some pics on here posteda while back... The top two tranny bolt holes are my favorite, with the lowest hole under the oil galley rail, and the "leg" under the starter mounting notch being my other two anchors, using a long bolt with washers and nuts... -D.Idiot |

I found a 0 on the rear of the block. I put it ( the 0) as close to the center of the head of my engine stand as i could. Much more balanced and a lot easier to flip. Im nott sure if this is the 'correct' way, but it worked for me. My first attempt at mounting the engine was not real good. Be careful! take your time to center the 0 . Bye Brendan. |

The slant 6 is nose heavy on most engine stands and most engine stand are made for V8s. You really need one with a H style base instead of the T style. The engine stand that I use would hold 440s quite nicely, but with a slant six it was tippy. Welding a brace across the front of the T worked miracles. |
