| Post subject: | Roll Cage Ross Bar Question |
Can I Drill The Crossbar to mount (bolt) the Seat Belt tabs into? It does not seem to specify except that the crossbar may be no more then 4" Below the Shoulder of the driver. Thanks, Greg |

I don't know, but if you have a bolt going through the tubing on a dragster you must have a small tube going clear through welded to both sides of the frame tube. Richard |

You don't have wrap-around belts? I would weld a tab to the shoulder bar before I would drill it. I don't have a current NHRA rule book to know what's legal for modifying the shoulder bar, but wrap-around has always been approved AFAIK. |

Yep, I am sue I can wrap them around... Before when the car had no bar I had to use the tab and bolt them to the floor. Thanks, Greg |

I would get in touch with the tech inspector for your area. Ultimately he will be the final word. Describe what you want to do(even email photos) and see if he will allow it.( you et range come into play as well) If he does get it in writing and have it with you at the track in case you are questioned. Any hole through a roll bar must be reinforced with a tube sleeve and I am pretty sure there is no exceptions on that.... |
