Anyone know which model 1bbl Carter that will replace the Holley on my 68 Dart 225 with minimal alterations. Just can't keep the Holley in tune for any length of time and want to junk it for a Carter. I know some early /6's used Carters and I think some later models but don't know which will work. HELP GUYS!

Yea, I'd be interested in knowing the same thing. I'm thinking to replace the Holley on my Valiant with a Carter maybe. TIA.

Just about any Carter BBS will fit and work fine on a 1bbl intake.

Need to make sure the carter is not warped in any way as is 3 piece casting and the mounting screws are not bent as they are about 4 Inches long (10/32) also they are location specific but otherwise easy to replace if missing-check for stripped threads and excess gasket material buildup if using used carb as is a common band-aid approach to cure warping-check for excessive wear on throttle shaft, Hope this helps you with your decision . The Carter I consider a excellent carb, much better then the Holly my 63 Dart Gt has now...But thats a story for a later day. Avoid imported rebuilt kits, have yet to find one thats not junk. Carter was absorbed into Holly several years ago, but do not know of current parts availability. Hope this encourages you to make the switch. :D

Hope I didn't confuse anyone, my topic is for a BBS despite what subject line says...been a looooog day! Try the Paddock for Quality Carbs of both manfactures and rod as well as throttle-smog/non-smog versions can't remember the part# on mine but application is listed by model and year..avoid unknown rebuilt brands if at all possible. will post info on the Paddock as soon as possible.

The Carter BBS is a direct "bolt-on" replacement for the Holley, The things to watch for is the type of linkage. The early Carters have the rod linkage "U" connection point where later units have the cable eyelet. Some Carters have both linkage provisions.

The other thing to get is the fuel inlet tube, Carters have a short, straight tube right off the front of the fuel bowl, Holley carbs have an "S" shaped tube which leads from the side of the float bowl. It is hard to get the Holley tube to work on a Carter BBS.
