Post subject:  My 60 Belvedere
I have had her for about a month and with the help of some friends restored the body. We put in new lower quarters, rear wheel moulding, lower front fenders, trunk weatherstrip rail and several other rust areas. The car was out of Massachusetts so the fact it is around at all is a miracle with salty roads. The car was wearing a horrible red paint job, the valence was crushed and the front fenders and drivers side doors and quarter were hit and full of filler. After stripping the car down welding in all the panels beating the metal back into shape she was blocked four times and painted. We have about 250 hrs labor in the body work. It has not been wet sanded or polished yet. I still need to replace a pinion bearing, fix a tranny leak and restore the steering wheel.

But the original slant 6 is in in her and runs pretty good.

That is absolutely gorgeous. A 1960 Plymouth sedan powered by a slant six is one of my dream cars. Does your car have the square steering wheel?

The complete 1957 Chrysler Corporation line ‘swept-wing’ styling emphasized soaring tail fins, large glass areas, dual headlamps, low belt-lines, with a restrained use of chrome ornamentation. The design led to Motor Trend presenting its ‘Car of the Year’ award to Chrysler.

Almost a caricature of the gracefully rising 1957 fin, the 1960 "Stabilizers" (as Chrysler officially called them) rose with a very sudden and pronounced arc to a great height at the end of the car, leaving a massive expanse of slab sided sheet metal.

Wait, you've had it for only about a month, and replaced quarters, repaired poor bodywork down the whole drivers side, valance, then blocked, painted, and reassembled it?! Wow, that's nuts. Great work, it's a beauty!

I put an honest 12 hours plus a day in it everyday. I had two friends help as well.

Here is a build thread on the forward look site. I am not sure if you have to sign up to see it or not. It took 2 1/2 - 3 weeks but was tough. If I would have had the luxury of time it would have been 3-4 months.

This post is an excellent documentation of work. I know what you mean by sick of red paint, and fixing the previous owner’s fixes. LOL
