Sounds like forged crank bearings in a cast crank engine.

He did have pics over at FABO but they are gone now. It did look, to me, like a cast crank block with forged main bearings.

Yes... you are showing a forged crank main bearing insert. (2 oil feed holes)
Go get a set of mains for a 76 and newer SL6, that should fix it.
(also check your con rod bearings... those are also different for the cast crank engine)

ordered some new bearings and the block does have two oil passages thax for the help
