Hey guys, I'm after a new camshaft. The car is a daily driver (1967 225 904tf), 350 holley, elec ignition, port job, exhaust with header manifold. When I do the cam swap I'll also be confirming the compression and aiming to get to a ratio of somewhere around 9.5 - 10 : 1 static, with the dynamic compression ratio I believe is 8.4ish that I should be aiming for? More torque/power especially in the lower rev range would be best. I do plan on getting the aussiespeed long runner manifold, as well as the larger valves (1.7 1.44) when I pull the head. What are your suggestions? Cheers for the help! |

Thank you Aggressive Ted, do you have the specs at all for that? A quick search and I found it might be best for me to get the specs and have someone grind it for me? If going that high on SCR I would use the Erson 270/270 grind (even with the 111+4 stock grind it's smooth and workable in a street motor), that should keep your torque band and use the higher static ratio to best effect (especially with OS valves and some portmatching and bowl work), especially if using a long ram manifold (2 or 4 barrel)...the bad part will be: your tranny and 7 1/4" 2.94 rear may not like the signifigant increase in torque and power...-D.Idiot |

Thanks everyone, I hadn't seen the camtech link before, and I'll be interested to see if the RV10/15 or the other cam suggested match any of those you posted. Thankyou for the advice DI And yeah I didn't think that cam card was appropriate, just that was all I could find with a quick google search and a newbie cam knowledge. How is the weather Brendan? I ran the RV15M RDP, which you need to get the specs directly from Doc for. Erson won't remember. I started out with 11:1 compression, backed it off to 10.7ish due to detonation issues. Drove the car to the track, pulling a trailer. It's a torque monster. Cylinder fill was limited on the high end, so the engine pretty much shut off at 5k rpm. I stuffed a bunch more duration and lift into the engine with a new OCG cam, and picked up 4/10ths at the strip. The new cam is a bit lazy off the line with the converter being equal. Pretty much a wash with other mods. Moved the top end power into the danger zone though. The RV15M works well. When I pull the long rod stroker out to stuff in a pickup, this cam will go back in. For a street strip driver, I recommend it. CJ |

Thanks CEEJ, I'll try PM Doc for the details. Buying a non custom cam here looks to be around the $500ish mark with solid lifters included. How much would you guys usually pay in America for something like the RV10/15 combo etc? Cheers |

If you can get something comparible grind from OCG then $70 you deliver and pick up...lifters at about $3.50 each...(convenient when they are 60 miles to the north of me). When I ordered last from Erson (many years back) it was closer to $150 for the combo...that deal doesn't exist since the transition to the new regime occurred over there. -D.Idiot |

Yep p#$$#*g down here at Murwillumbah and pretty windy.Whats your name ,Russel maybe? ,and where are ya? I recently got a cam from hemi performance. cost about $500 for cam , lifters , delivery and GST. Brendan. Hey mate, the name's Ben Russell, just in south east q=Queensland 30km from CBD, lucky enough the house etc won't be flooded, just some insane wind crazy water and probably cut off for a few days no biggie! Here are the spec sheets on the 2 "RDP" cams we developed with Erson. These cams are designed for "street performance" using pump gas and focused on smooth idle, strong low to mid range power and "tighter" lash setting, to keep the lifter noise low. The key is the old MP 244 cam exhaust lobe, it's somewhat "short on duration but a little more lift. Use other lobes (lobe masters) and "all bets are off"... There is way more to cam lobe designs... then the duration & lift numbers you see. DD ![]() |

Here is the RV 15 / 295 These sheets show 4 degrees of advance ground into the cam but it is better to grind these cams "Straight-up" (No ground-in advance) especially on the RV15 / 295 (the "bigger" intake lobe profile acts like more cam advance, in an RDP design) DD ![]() |
