I've been experiencing a vibration in my motor and its been getting worse? Thanks to all the Guru's on it I have been able to narrow it do by taking by belt off and the noise and vibration went away. My altenator was the culprit, the shaft has a lot of play in it. Anyway where is the best place to buy an altenator this is a reman one can you purchase these new and how many amps does it need to put out? Thanks again all who contribute on here it really helps and I really enjoy my 1964 Dodge Dart.........just to mention I only have the alternator and water pump that are run by the belt, well the fan is too of course. Not looking so much for increased performance as dependability too.......

Look in the phone book for a starter or alternator rebuild shop. Have them install new bearings and go through the alternator you have. I'll bet they can rewind it to whatever output you want.

Was thinking about doing that Reed we have an awesome Alternator and Starter shop here in town. Just paid him a visit before Christmas for an Interstate battery for my mother-in-law's vehicle. I took her a battery, installed it and said Merry Christmas!

Hope you didn't end giving her a lump of coal! Unfortunately like so many things these days, the quality of Interstate batteries has gone downhill in the past 5yrs or so. 15 yrs ago I might have had to replace a handful per year under warrantee for my customers, I did 2-3 last week that were less than 2 yrs old.
