Post subject:  Bubbling/Gurgling sound from rear of engine

Hey guys,
I just finished swapping in a super six setup and it seems to run great. However, once I ran the engine for more than just quick tuning in the driveway, it VERY quickly overheated. Like down the street and I was at the top of my gauge. I did lose some coolant out of the stud at the back of the engine (kind of where the sound is coming from) and I forgot to put more back in. I don't think I lost a TON, but maybe it was enough for the system to pull in a lot of air from the overflow which is causing my gurgling sound?

I don't see any coolant leaks--that was my first thought, that maybe I hadn't put enough sealer on one of the studs, but I don't see anything external at all.

Any help here would be great guys...right now I'm just letting it cool down and I'm going to go pick up some coolant to fill it up once its cold.

Some thermostats have tiny air-bleed holes- some don't. If your stat doesn't have an air bleed, then you likely had a bunch of air trapped in the cylinder head when you filled it. You can get around that by loosening/ slightly removing the heater hose connection on the head while topping up the system.

Anytime I do cooling system work I run the engine enough to make sure that both heater hoses get warm & the heater puts out warm air- that shows that I have enough coolant & pump function to at least circulate thru the heater core. Then I run it til the stat opens & the rad core gets hot- after that I do a road test.

I posted back last night but I guess it didn't go through. Probably cause it was a double post.
I was down a gallon of coolant...oops. But all is well now, got up to temp and stayed there, took it out on the road and had no issues.
