I have mostly completed the front disc conversion on my '64 Dart. The UCAs and ball joints are from a 73-76 A-body. The spindles, discs, and calipers came from an M-body, specifically a 1984 Chrysler 5th Avenue. My issue is with the brake hoses, which I bought new from O-Reilly's for the Chrysler. These brake hoses use a banjo bolt fitting to connect to the calipers. With my new wheels and tires, the brake hose rubs on the inside of the tire. I'm wondering if there is another brake hose I can use that simply screws into the caliper directly. The 90 degree change in direction from the banjo fitting is what causes the rub. I already checked the Dart's old brake hoses, which do screw in directly (to the back of the wheel cylinder), but the threads are too small. Is there another Mopar whose front brake hoses might work? Is there a way for me to cross-reference brake hoses using the thread size? I am running 225-45-17 tires on 8" wide rims. |

Okay, so after looking at it again this morning, I don't think it's the banjo fitting hurting me. It's actually the 90 degree fitting on the other side of the hose. This side was also straight on my old hose. Rather than try to post pictures here from my phone, here's the link to my Flickr account. http://www.flickr.com/photos/spacefrank In the two most recent pics, you can see how the angle on the hose where it connects to the steel brake line routes the hose poorly. If that side of the hose were straight, it would point the hose down and out of the way. |

That's not even the right hose for an A-body...the 73-76 A-body and 76-80 F-body Hose for disc brakes should be what you need, it clips into the bracket you showed and goes straight down from the hardline in your picture with the correct washer and bolt connection at the calipers. -D.Idiot |

Yep! Went and picked up hoses for a '73 Dart, and they worked much better. Banjo fitting to the caliper, and the other side was not only straight, but hooked up perfectly to the clip on the frame. Thanks, guys. |
