Post subject: | Un-original engine? |
Figured I better put this in a new post: Quote: Determine if the motor in the Dart is original. If not, why not swap a different one? ...
I just realized tonight the engine in my 1963 Dart wagon may not be the original one after all. Check out the photo and notice the engine casting number.![]() Now look at this: ![]() Any chance this is wrong and this series was cast earlier in '63? If not, which numbers somewhere else on the vehicle should match the engine block castings? Somewhere on the VIN or other? |

The "430" casting number is correct for 1963. What does the deck stamping say? DD ![]() |

The deck stamping (" T ") is also correct for 1963 I would say that this is the original engine for your 63 vehicle. DD http://slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=288357 |
