Hey guys.....I'm wondering if there is a way to get an idea of the condition of a pushbutton auto tranny without being able to test drive the car (due to brakes being shot). I'm looking at a car with this situation and of course dont want to do a brake job to determine whether to buy it or not. But I'd like to have some peace of mind about the tranny. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks a lot...Gerard

If the engine runs you can jack-up the rear and listen / watch the trans "go through the gears".
Doing this will tell you that the gearbox works and shifts but it will not show you the quality of the shifts (firmness).

Also look at the fluid, color and smell can tell you alot about the condition of the trans.
