My Carter BBD has a small (can't find where it's coming from) leak under the fuel inlet. The gas isn't coming from the inlet itself as it's only wet below the inlet but not the space in between. I've been setting money aside to throw this crappy BBD away and go to EFI but it's got to hold for now. I can't take the carb off to properly examine it as my fiance's car broke down and I don't have the time to take it off after work and still be able to drive it in the morning. As one might expect, emptying my carb bowl after each run is killing my fuel economy, not to mention dangerous having fuel leak onto my intake so near to my exhaust manifold.
All this being said, I'm looking for a quick fix that will hold me over for two months to see me through my finance's car repairs and to put away the rest for the MPFI megasquirt swap. I've got an idea that I'm going to throw out there, to most certainly be shot down.
I was thinking I could just clean the wet area and coat it with this. As the afflicted area is not on the idle mixture screws or anything that needs to be adjusted, I figured it can't hurt. My thought is that at best it fills the crack or whatever is causing the leak. At worst it doesn't work and creates a mess.
