Hey guys. The local Napa has been unable to find the correct upper coolant hose for my 1970 duster. It's a 225, with a thermostat housing that has the hose coming out straight up, and the outlet on the radiator is on the passenger side sticking straight out. We tried a couple different hoses and didn't find an exact fit so we tried a flexible hose, which still doesn't fit right and is now leaking. Anyone know a part number for the correct hose? The thermostat housing is 6 to 8 inches from the radiator and 3 inches offset to the right if you are looking at the engine from the front of the car.

They mostly now only stock a few and you cut to fit: I think my last one was Gates#20573 assume you have the 18-19" radiator and no A/C.

Looks like on the NAPA website NBH7462 is similar.

There's nothing intrinsically wrong with the universal hoses. You just gotta monkey around and find one that fits. Looks like you could use one that's one length shorter. I like the Dayco brand from autozone better, the pleats are U shaped instead of a sharp V shape. Either way you just gotta make sure it fits.

Even if yours is long I don't see how that would cause a leak unless it got stretched so much one of the pleats ripped apart. If its the ends that are leaking you just need to crank down on the clamp more. My personal experience - the universal ones are easier to seal because they use a softer more conforming rubber.

BTW... use better clamps. The one on the rad... you see how the tail of that clamp isn't parallel to the rest of it but off at that odd angle... the body of the clamp (screw assembly part) has twisted due to the torque applied. A good sturdy clamp will not twist when you get them tight.
