Post subject: | Formula S steelie, proper tire size? |
Greetings, I'm looking to purchase new rubber for 4 SBP stock Formula S wheels (14" x 5.5") that I recently obtained. The current tires on the rims are a mix of 3 different sizes. The wheels will be going on my DD '68 Valiant w/ stock ride height & I have yet to upgrade my brakes. I tried doing a forum search here, but my Crackberry cell isn't cooperating w/ the webz as usual. I'm leaning towards 185 70 R14s for my new purchase. Any help is appreciated. |

I'd run 195 75 r14 on the front and 215 75 r14 on the rear. Since stock suspension isn't the best a thicker sidewall will definitely help with ride quality. The thing with those sizes is that they are a bitch to find. Get the road hazard protection and cooper tires (thick tread). |

Thanks for the reply VBoyWonder. I'm currently running 225 70 R14s in the rear & only one 195 75 14 Formula S up front. The other is a 205 75 R14. ![]() It's definitely time for four matching steelies sporting new rubber. |

Today I was thumbing through the June '09 issue of Mopar Muscle mag. I spot Greg O's (forum member, as you folks prolly know)'69 Swinger. Mopar Muscle says he's running P225 70 R14s on his front & P235 60 R14s out back. Wheels are said to be 14 x 5.5" Hmmm ![]() |
