I'm upgrading my charging system on my 62 Valiant with the goal of more consistent voltage output. I want to avoid a re manufactured alternator and can't find the earlier Denso new. I realize that I don't need all the amps and will switch to a voltage gauge. Is the Denso 211-0121 my best choice? Is it difficult to convert to a v pulley? I am currently running a stock alternator with electronic regulator and HEI. Also have electric fuel pump and may add electric fan, but I think I could still get by with less amps. Why? I had some problems with my EFI CPU and the tech support told me to reload the software and low and or inconstant voltage corrupts files. Cheers, Barnaby |

I would do some checking around local junkyards and see if you can find a used one that can be rebuilt locally. |

I got one at the Pick A Part in Tacoma from a 92 Dakota with a standard pulley. You can buy a pulley and swap it out......Our Auto Parts store in Black Diamond has all the pulleys hanging on the wall. The local "Rebuilder" in Kent has them too... The Pick A Part said 89 to 92's had standard pulleys. |

I think I'd go 1990 max...my 1992 Ramcharger 5.2 was serpentine belt...my uncle's 5.2L Dakota is also serpentine belt...Maybe I should check my local pick-a-part just down the raod from the shop since they are pre-92. -D.Idiot |
