after pulling the tranny out of the lancer yesterday i discovered a coolant leak, after some cleaning i found that the block has one deep pit mark in it that is leaking coolant. my question is is this repairable and to add to this it is an Aluminum motor any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks |

Take it to a welding shop or machine shop. Have them tig it. Unless there is excessive damage, they should be able to repair it fairly easily. If the maintainence specific to an Aluminum engine has not been done, you may have scrap. CJ |

The aluminum block may be too thick for proper tigging, and depending on the alloy, may not be conducive to this style of welding, an experienced welding shop will be able to tell, and if a good deep weld is required they can braze it together (had this done on my feather duster cast bumper insert...still holding strong).-D.Idiot |

I can imagine the guy on the assembly line looking at that pit in the casting... "That'll never leak in 50 years!". And he was right. - Mac |

I would try drilling and tapping for a pipe plug, thats how I fixed a pit mark in a iron block with a oil leak from the crankcase, an 1/8 in plug worked for me, if the pit is bigger go to a 1/4 in plug |
