Possibly a dumb question, but all my search-fu yielded no relevant results. What is the recommended fluid to put in a 7.25" rear end? I will be "road racing," if it matters. You can basically read that as "I will be driving to work really hard through the city for hours at a time." Also, recommendations for housing cover gaskets? Anything special out there? Mine shows signs of leaking. I don't know my gear ratio, but it's likely high 2s-low 3s. |

Depends on the axle type for gaskets (only a couple brands offered at all for the 7 1/4"), 8 1/4" and 8 3/4" are very available. If you have a performance differential, follow the instructions on lube for the diff type (trac lock, ARB, etc...). I haven't had any problems using an over the counter gear oil with a stock mopar rear even with stock sure-grip. -D.Idiot |

RTV silicone gasket maker would be fine for a rear axle cover, if you can't find a gasket readily, 80-90 gear oil should be fine, 85-120 would be better in hot weather, if it's a posi make sure oil is compateable with a limited slip axle, most brands will say on the bottle |
