Hi all,
First off, I'm sorry if this is not a new topic, but I need some help.
I have an 83' D150 w/ the 225. It's a brand new Jasper Eng. and overall I'm really happy w/ the truck and the engine. It does have Clifford AL intake and steel headers. The truck runs great, but.....I simply cannot get the Webber carb to idle down, I have to constantly tap (hard) the accelerator pedal to get the carb to idle down. This happens hot or cold. She starts fine, runs great but each time I take her out of gear (four speed manual) she roars, idles way to high, and each and every stop I have to stomp the gas to get the carb to idle, this is killing my mileage and is also embarrassing, every kid at the stop thinks I'm looking for a race or something! The shop has replaced the cable, and adjusted the carb, and no change, still won't idle right. I fiddled with the adjustment just a bit....no change. I probably have the cable set up wrong or have made some other mistake but even though I'm not mechanically clueless this one has me stumped. Anyone have a solution? I may try to re-orient the carb (rotate it 90 or 180 deg) and run the cable to the gas-pedal differently but I don't want to go from bad to worse. The butterflies seem to set fine, the gears look O.K. but I've as yet not found the answer. I added three springs to the system to "pull" the throttle closed but that doesn’t do it! HELP! The cable seems too "slack" at idle, but would this make it idle too high? Sorry, I have pix but don't know how to post them here.

Look at the gasket under the butterflies. The throttle blades could be contacting something.

Is there a spacer under the carb? If not, you may need one to maintain clearances.

Has the carburetor been overtightened, warping the throttle plate, and binding the thottle shafts?

I second CJ’s thoughts that throttle plates are jamming in some way be it too small diameter throttle bore of gasket, and or interference with spacer.
