The deminsion differance in the wings as you call them will effect thrust end play of the crank, take one of the bearing halfs and put it on the crank, then put a feeler gauge in between crank thrust surface and bearing, clearance should be .002-.009 thousand of an inch. Spec on bearing clearance is .0005-.002 thats the spec out of repair manuel, I would run .002-.003 especially if its being built as a performance motor

That width on the #3 thrust bearing is slightly larger, but it is a small enough difference that you should be OK. Mahle probably designed it that way to allow for old worn cranks. You can measure the end play with the old crank and if it is more than 0.006" you should be fine with the new bearings. After polishing that #3 thrust surface, you will have about 0.001-0.002" more width on that surface, and the new bearings add 0.004" total width to the bearing.

I would use 0.002" on the main and rod clearances. Do not go above 0.0025". Pretty much all of the Slant racers have decided this spec works well and is looser than the original 0.0005-0.0015" factory spec.
