Got it figured out. Just had to adjust a bit more, and let the clutch seat. Works like a charm.

Ok... Have been reading a lot but can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for. PLEASE HELP!!! I have a 1978 D100 with a 225 slant six. I just freshened up the motor, and went ahead and did a clutch/pressure plate/t-o bearing/bushing, while I had the motor out. I had the flywheel ground, and everything went together perfecto and clean. I'm not sure of the model of tranny, but it's a 3 speed column shift. So I finished the truck today and ran into an issue - I couldn't put the truck into gear with the motor running. When I removed the linkage, I didn't mess anything up, and let the adjustments alone. I had to adjust the clutch fork way in for it to be able to actually shift into gears with the motor running. But then the clutch slips slightly, and doesn't grab until way out on the pedal (knee up to wheel). I know it's all clean, and installed correctly. But am I missing something?! I can't figure out why I had to adjust it so much to get it shifting again, and in turn, made it engage WAY out on the pedal, and it slips!? Argh. I'm frustrated with it. Any advice from the gurus out there would be greatly appreciated! |

If its a mechanical linkage pull the cover off bellhouseing check clearance between throw out bearing and clutch fingers should be about 1/8in max if not adjust to 1/8in clearance and try, if you still are haveing problems after adjusting you probably have a defective (chinese) clutch. If its a hydraulic linkage good luck, as far as im concerned they suck, just about every hydraulic clutch i replace I have a problem with, may be flywheel was machined to much, if it's machined at all it might be to much, you may need to replace flywheel |

Its mechanical linkage. I bought a rhino Pak clutch kit. It wasn't Chinese, but said made in Mexico on it when pulled from box. I'll pull it off and check. I didn't think the flywheel could have been resurfaced that far down to cause a problem... When he measured it out at the machine shop, he stated it was a virgin flywheel, and had never been cut. I'm so frustrated. |
