I bought a 1980 Dodge Diplomat that only has 35000 miles on the slant 6 and would like to put this in my 1964 Plymouth Valiant. Anything we need to know or be worried about? Also - would the front disk brakes work on my car too?

Get an adapter ring for the new motor, crank pocket is to big for the 64 trans and you may need the newer flex plate.

Disc brakes will be great, use the spindles and everything but you will need to find '72-up disc brake upper a-arms to use them or modify your stickers. Also need '72-up lower bjs.

AS Fopar stated, you need the adapter ring for the crank (I have them for sale, as does Doc, on this site, or Tfpatty on e-bay). Use the flexplate from the diplomat. You will also need the oil pan and oil pump pickup tube from the 64 engine installed on the dippy engine, and the 64 motor mounts and brackets.
I'm not sure if the 80 dippy had the lean burn ign, or not. If it does, you will need to change to the 64 distributer, or convert to the non lean burn electronic ignition. If it does not have lean burn, leave the dippy distributer in and add either the Mopar electronic box, or a GM HEI conversion. There are instructions for either on this site.

You may also wish to upgrade to the Diplomat's dual field alternator and electronic voltage regulator.

If the valiant has a manual transmission you will need a newer flywheel 68 and up from a car.
