Looking for someone in St Louis area to tune up a super 6 in a 79 aspen. I am going to pull engine and trans to put in my rat rod. Want to get engine tuned while in the aspen. I am located 30 miles east of Stl.

I don't live locally but a tune up is pretty easy and straight forward.

Depending on how far you want to go but a basic tuneup is replace plugs, wires and fuel filter. Clean cap and rotor. Oil change and filter replacement. Air filter cleaned or replaced. You could also rebuild your carburetor.

I am thinking I may want to get elec ign and possibly change cam. The Rat Rod is pretty wild, so I thought I would have a good sounding /6. I def have all of the power I need for now.

If the engine is a real super six the EI distributor is a good one for 'sporty' modifications having the short governor for lots of initial... so make sure you keep that part of your ignition system.

Engine is def super 6. I am pulling engine from 79 asspen, I want to do any mods while engine is in car so i can drive it before putting in rat rod.
I appreciate all of the forum input and info. Needless to say I am not a engine tuner, however I am a good driver.

FYI, the 1979 is a heavy car so you will redial the carb and timing if put in a lighter chassis to get the most out of the engine. When the engine is out of the car I would replace the timing set to make sure it's all tight and good, and degree the cam to make sure the previous owner/mechanic didn't just line up the dots and retard things...

Sounds like a good project.

Mr d.idiot
I always appreciate your input with the forum. Will do as per your advise and others. The /6 forum is tops, will keep everyone informed as to how the rat performs.
