I think my slant is still equipped with the stock plug wires so I've decided to do an overhaul on the ignition system. Pertronix or an HEI will have to wait, this is a more due to necessity. I'm running a 78 Super Six.

I plan to install NGK 6630 plugs
NAPA Echlin MO3000 Rotor
Bluestreak CH-410 Cap from rockauto.com
And some NAPA plug wires for now, Magnecors will also have to wait.

Does anyone recommend any different products? Particularly what plug wires should I get? I was thinking I would get these but I would like to see what has worked for other people.

Buy SMP products over the counter at your local Knechts or Baxters in Portland...

Everything else looks fine, you will remove the "umbrellas" from the plug wires as your head does not need them...If you were running a non-smog hot rod I'd tell you for the price to get a set of Accel wires from Autozone and we could make you up a set while you visit tomorrow...LOL...

Good to know, I'm right by the Baxter's too. Are these gromets needed on my 78? I've seen Dan mention them on some older posts but I wasn't sure if they were needed on engines after 74.

Those are drool tube washers for the 1974 head...not needed on a stock engine after 1974 (I got plenty of spares.)...

Hopefully you brought and extra hard drive for your brain, you may get a crash course in slant six 101 with lots of hand on examples!

I've learned a good amount from this forum already. With out it I would still be deciphering vacuum diagrams from my Haynes manual. I've got plenty to learn still. Hoping I can get this back on the road before too long. It's supposed to by my daily driver
