Post subject:  carb jet sizes for holley 1920

what would the best jet size for a stock 225 with a holley 1920 all i have done to the motor is the 1971 slant cam with the valve lash set at .012 intake .024 exhaust with the cam degreed to 102 degree's "thanks a million for degreeing the cam Rick it's running great so far" right now the carb has a 55 jet in it i have on the way from summit a 57 jet 58 jet and a 59 jet which jet would be the best for fuel economy and performance

#58 would be the best for performance and not being excessively rich, #57 would work as well. Don't forget to check the plugs after the change during regular driving to make sure that you aren't overly rich.

When you have a small jet like a #55 your into the power valve more to get going. With a larger jet like a #58 your not, so mileage will even out as long as your not a lead foot. I drive by my vacuum gauge which helps to keep my foot out of it. The gauge is a gentle reminder.

Hopefully you know what your rear end gear ratio is which will dictate how much you need to keep your foot in it. This will effect local mileage (in town driving).
