Well, I'm finally buttoning up my 62 Signet and getting road ready. I need these pieces; lock pillar filler, division channel and lock side channel. Ive tried Dantes, Restoration Specialties left a message with Birnbaum. Does anyone have suggestions? Does anyone have a Gary Goers catalog handy? I lost my copy... Cheers, Barnaby |

Hi Barnaby, You and I are in the same boat. Look on page 10 in Restoration's catalog (2012)....I believe LC29 is our division bar. I don't have any leads on the lock pillar but you might check out Wildcat...they claim to have some hardtops there. Pick me up a pair while your there! Regards, John Brayton |

Thanks John, I'll check out lc-29. I wonder if 63-66 is close enough, I'm pretty sure that stuff is still in production? I was just at Wildcat and there was nothing, 1 year only... Wildcat has a lot of these cars, but most are projects and not available for parts. BT |

Hi BT Glad to help....what's the lock side channel and where in their catalog is it? The pillar filler is going to require a little creativity.... we can compare notes as we go . Thanks, JB |

I think it is g-100, not sure where it is in the catalog. I spoke to Dave Jr. he is the guy that knows the interchanges. BT |

Hi BT, What does the lock side channel do and where is it located on your car? Thanks, JB |

Well, I hope get this right... The lock side is the vertical weather strip that seals the door glass to the rear quarter glass when the window are up. This would be hard top only. BT |

On my 63 Dart hardtop that is on the door glass on the back edge not on the rear window's leading edge. Richard |

Post subject: | pillar lock seals |
I just mailed our worn out pillar seals to Gary Goers. I have heard, on this forum, that he will rebuild them if he has the metal bases. Got our division channels installed today....what a huge pain in the butt! The stainless does not want to go on....hope you fellows have much better luck!! Cleaned the old rubber out of the roof rail stainless today. I installed the new rubber but the glass and wing window didn't seal well....I had the rubber in up-side-down.... JB |

Thanks for the update. I installed the cat whiskers and it is nice to close the door and not hear the glass clunk. I should get the rest of the striping soon, sounds like a pain. It looks like I need to send my pieces to Goers. BT |

Hi BT, I have a set of Pentastar rear side quarter glass seals for a sedan.....these have the lock strips. Because our division bar is different from the sedan's pillar I'm working at mitering and gluing the correct division seal to the sedan rubber. I sent an email to Gary Goers and have a call in to Steele Rubber to see if either would reproduce the division bar portion of the quarter glass seal. I'll let you know how this turns out. JB |

Help, confused and overwhelmed... I sort of finished the front channels and it was a pita. I started into the back window channel thinking it would be easier, but couldn't figure it out? It appears not to be the same channel as the door window? Maybe the new channel will work? How do I get the old channel out? Do I need to remove the quarter windows? If yes how do I remove it? The current rear channel is wider than the front and maybe I can reline it? Thanks for the update. Do you have any photos? I can take photos of my work too, but it sounds like you are ahead of me. Cheers, BT |

Hi BT Yes, the rear 1/4 glass division bar is different from the front division bar. I have not found any replacement for the rear division bar and am gluing the liner (item #6114 in Gary Goers catalog) into my old bars. We removed the old bars by entirely disassembling and removing the rear window. The rear division bar is connected to the car in three places.....two screws at the very top attach it to the roof metal, two screws at the window sill, and one large bolt at the bottom. You must remove the fixed window to access the screws. If your rear fixed window rubber is in good shape you might want to glue in a liner while the division channel is still installed. Next Monday we're reinstalling the fixed window division bar and I can give you pictures and better information. If you give me your email I can send photos....mine is johnbrayton@att.net JB |
