| Post subject: | master cylinder brake rod to pedal arm attachment |
working on the 83 D-150,, When I disassembled the brake rod ( rear side of the master cylinder booster) and attaches to the brake pedal arm, I remember there was a U shaped spring clip that secured the brake rod to its mount ( a stud) on the brake pedal arm. The U clip, when fastened was closed on the back side of the U and folded over to also close over the open end of the U. Well now that I need it,, it is now where to be found,, Local pick a parts are empty of like D-150's... I checked in my 82 -83A- D- W mopar Parts Book, it shows a completely differet set up, it has a "bolt with o ring" part number 2460609 and a lock nut part number 6023110 and a hole in the brake pedal arm that the bolt would pass through.. I also have an 84 - 85 A- D-W parts book, it shows the same thing as the 82 -83 ??? So neither match what I have. I probably could go with a C clip, or drill the stud and install a cotter pin,, but I like what was in there,, I really think the drawings in the mopar parts book are wrong, anyone have an idea / source for the U clip that was there originally. thanks |

What you describe sounds to me like the deformable C-clip used on the drum brake parking lever pivot. A bodies I've torn into have the special bolt with o-ring and lock nut. The shoulder of the bolt goes into the master cylinder pushrod as I'm sure you can see in the parts book. I'd be willing to bet the bolt and nut arrangement was used in many other Chrysler vehicle lines and would be easy to find. |

I vote for shoulder bolt and o-ring setup, as is on every A-body I've seen. You could fab something from hardware store bolt and sleeve bushing. Lou |

found the retention clip that I was looking for http://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@N ... 284459635/ stoppped by the parts dept at the local Dodge dealer, I took in the 82-83 parts book that showed the nut with O ring set up. He looked up the same page in the electronic system, that matched my hard copy version. He then looked at a 1984 and a 1985, still the same nut with o ring... When we got to 1986,, there it was, part number 6035334,,, they had to order it. The cost was $2.20 |
