Post subject:  how do i fluse oput a torque converter

got one from rick/fluid inside is burnt and the torque converter also has a drain plug.

how do I flush it out correctly ,?

You generally don't.
As long as the fluid is just burnt and there aren't particulates in it you could pour it out by just flipping it over. This will get most the fluid out. If there is debris in the converter you won't ever be able to get it all out without cutting and re-welding it like is done at a rebuild shop. as for the little bit of burnt fluid left don't worry about it as it will mix with about a gallon and a half of transmission fluid and be just fine.

You may be able to fine a tranny shop that has a machine that flushes out torque converters.Most don't but you may get lucky.A friend that worked at a shop in Colorado had one.Worth a try.

Forgot to say that with a drain plug you can get good results by pulling the plug draining as much as possible.Reinstall the plug with the crank snout facing the work bench fill the converter with 1-2 quarts of fresh fliud.Find the proper (spare) input shaft, insert and spin the internals by hand to work the clean fluid and drain again.
