Post subject: | Oregon cam regrind |
I've read a lot of positive feedback about Oregon cams. I contacted them with my engine build goal and the suggested gring #819. Lift is .437"/.437"...I know any increase in lift will result in more pressure on the cam lobe. How much extra wear and tear will this put on the cam, lifters, ect.? Does modern oil have enough zinc/phosphorus/whatever to be compatable? Any feedback would be appreciated. |

The #819 is not much better than stock and you aren't increasing the lift that much (and you are using soft stock springs anyway), you could probably even go with lobe #218 if in the 9:1 compression range. I've never had a long term problem with any regrinds and using normal oil, as long as I change regularly. If paranoid, use rotella or add some secret sauce for peace of mind. I would worry more if using dual springs and the 791 grind or bigger. -D.Idiot |
