Post subject:  Well, it's time to say goodbye to the Dart

 Due to changes in our lives that we all experience, the Dart has to go. I will in short time miss it dearly; I know that.
I first saw the car when a buddy traded it for a 1966 Charger that was rusted beyond any hope. The deal was to trade the Charger to a guy that collected them; he had dozens of old Mopars sitting at his house and my friend was to choose one to trade. I first saw this particular 1969 Dart Custom sitting next an old shed with several other A-bodies. The car is a two-door hardtop with a 225/auto and A/C. The carb was missing but everything else was there. There was a large dent in the rear quarter. A deal was struck and it was trailered home. After a few weeks, my buddy decided not to keep the car and sold it to me. I brought it home and tried to get it running and after several attempts it was decided to do a complete rebuild. When the heads were removed we found the cylinders were full of corn. Yes Corn! Apparently while the Darster sat sans carburetor some critters had set up home in the engine. The engine and head were hot-tanked and magnafluxed and hardened seats were installed in the head.
The Dart has been a daily driver logging about 15,000/year; in the summer I pull my fishing boat to the lake with it. In the last six years everything has been replaced or rebuilt (except the trans) from the radiator to the rear axle. It has new seats and a new headliner. I have put a considerable amount of time and money into it over the years, but, due to family expansion, I have to part with it and get something modern with four-doors. I will always have the memories and some pictures; and perhaps someday another Dartster will cross my path.

Yep, they sure did make four doors. :D I have a '69 Dart Custom four door that I'm looking to get rid of. Want it? LOL.

Get a 4 door Dodge Dart 73+. Comfy, and easy to work on. Not to mention, you can mess with the electric system and not screw anything up. They're neat looking too. If you're upgrading for "safety" reasons too, add a 3rd brake light(like me), delay motors, electric latches, and maybe even try to be the first to put anb airbag in their. Actually, make that hopefully the first to try such a thing. If you want a new engine in it, put a new engine in it and get better gas mileage. Just my suggestion, the more Dart's saved the better for me, means more parts on ebay (:
