Just wondering what is your preference (source) for valves to use to put larger intake and exhaust valves in you slanty?

Here are the ones I installed. They have stock stem dia & length needing only larger valve seat to be machined, and larger hardened exhaust seats installed.

I put those in my truck.

As far as I'm concerned, the price is excellent, so are the valves. I'd put those in before I put stock ones in any head.

I run propane, so my engine has hardened exhaust AND intake seats.

I would recommend the 1.70/1.44 for the person doing a hopped up daily driver or strip car with a smaller overbore in their build. I use both the enginebldr valves and a set of SI Valves in that size and they work great.

I do know that user Kidd lost the heads off a couple of the enginebldr valves in his drag race car on a pass in Medford back in '09. FYI.

I think if needing a little "more" out of the valve (i.e. reduced stem size, bigger valves). I'd pick the chevy or ford valves, the trick is to make sure that you match your build with the sizing of the valves since some of the valve will be shrouded at the chamber side, and if your overbore and lift are not matched well you will have to notch the bores in the block to keep the valve head from colliding with the edge of the bore.

In order to run sbc or other larger valves you have to rework the combustion chamber to unshroud the valves.
This will increase the volume of your chambers. Do this before your final valve work.

To make up for the increased volume (or to increase compression ratio) its a good idea to deck the block (as opposed to the head ) to keep the valves as far as possible from the deck when using high lift cams.

Installation of larger valves should be accompanied by a "bowl Hog" .

When I installed my chev v/vs and springs I got the machine shop to "treat it like a chev" with good results.
