| Post subject: | Auxillary Audio Input on a Stock Radio |
I have an AM Radio and recently an AM/FM Radio with 8-Track. I want to add in a standard headphone jack aux audio input. Has anyone ever done something like this to these radios? I love the idea of being able to play my own music but keep the look of the stock radio. |

Easiest way to go about that would be to buy an FM modulator. Basically a mini radio station in the car. Set it at an unused station and plug the mp3/phone etc into it and adjust the 8track radio to the same station. No need to over think it with an aux amp and diodes on the radio wires (electronic geek here)  you can find all shapes and sizes for the modulator and usually pretty cheap.Pohlman |

You really think that is the best way? I've never had a good expirence with them. They are always so in and out and constantly fumbling with the location of the device. And those were the ones that were $20-$40. Has technology changed enough that they have improved over the last couple years? |

I don't think that you will be able to do that properly without disassembling the radio. |

There are many styles of FM mods, you can go with the frequency type or you can go with a hard wired version if you live in an urban area so that you dont have local stations bleeding in. http://www.xm-radio-satellite.com/siriu ... mda25.aspx http://www.cleverandeasy.com/Multimedia ... -ipod.html or http://www.amazon.com/iSimple-IS32-Univ ... sbs_misc_2 That should give you an idea of ways to go, most likely ill go with one of these if I cant get the radio setup I want in my 51. |

That Scosche unit looks pretty good. Way easier than cutting into the radio circuitry, and allows you to replace your radio at any point without starting the whole project over again. - Mac |
