I bought a second hand Carter BBD and it is missing the Air Cleaner Hoop can that be bought separately? If not any suggestion on how to mount the air cleaner?

Mine didn't have one either. I made one out of a coat hanger and a bolt. It doesn't pivot like the factory hoop of course but it works fine. I can get a picture if you want.

Sure.
If you find a source, be sure to post it. I couldn't find one, but I didn't look very hard. The bolt and coat hanger work as good as anything else.

Here's a link to a air cleaner for 1 or 2 barrel carbs it has it's own baseplate that attaches with a set screw and mounting stud made onto the baseplate. $17.95 on ebay with free shipping

That's too small for proper performance...Stock filters are oversized to account for loss of cfm/airflow when they are dirty. The filter starts degrading immediately upon use, this will act similar to leaving the choke plate closed on the carb. It's better to go bigger knowing that you are only getting 50% of the air through the filter in a few weeks of daily driving than go small and wonder why your engine is not producing power as it should.
When comparing filter sizes you should be looking at the surface area of the filter media and depth of the pleats.

I appreciate the ebay link but DusterIdiot is right. I use a 10" round by 2" tall and 1" deep air filter now. It allows for good air flow. I am likely going to upgrade to the spectre 10" unit with the spectre cap.

It does raise an interesting idea that I may have to try though. The set screw idea. With a little looking and maybe some trials. I may be able to get this to work. Especially if I can use the holes that the hoop is supposed to fit into. Possibly even a small long bolt.

Thanks for the info...i was considering trying one of these smaller air cleaners with my 1 barrel not realizing it would make that much of a difference

Ebay might have bigger air cleaners with a set screw i'm not sure
