Post subject:  Large Port Intake Gaskets
I looked at the AussieSpeed web site and was pretty surprised to see that they want $90 for the I/E gasket. Is it worth it? What is the size of the port window?

There seems to be a lot of support for Remflex, but it sounds like the ports a stock-sized on theirs

What are the other options? What are people happy with? How much and where from?

I think Mad Max was good with Remflex on his super fast 10.5 second car. I sure like them and have had excellent results. They stand behind them!

i have been running the large port aussie gasket for a while now with no complaints. ive had the intake and headers off many times and it is still going strong.

The Aussie Speed gasket is only about 1/2 the thickness of the Remflex. The size of the Remflex ports is just about the same size as the Cox Brothers gaskets that a lot of the racers used. I just changed one of the Cox Brothers gaskets out on Saturday and laid the Remflex on top of it and they were just about the same.

I use remflex for3 reasons: 1) easier to get and cost isn't bad, 2) they are thick enough to handle even the worst manifold mismatches, 3) if you treat them to a little 'Pam' before installation they will hold up to at least 3 manifold changes (that's the record I have so far on reusing mine before they flake and self destruct).

On another note, if you need more port out of them an exacto knife or a little shaving with a drill bit will open the ports up more if needed (so far only needed a little massage if using one of Doc's Fat Paks, but not much).

Any idea what the port sizes are for the Remflex or the Aussie? Stock is around 1.375 x 1.375, IIRC.

Nothing to be gained unless you are matching the port or as previously said running one of Doc's Fatpaks+all top end.

I plan to port extensively and build a custom EFI intake manifold. Does anyone have a large port gasket that they can measure. $90 seems crazy high if the port window is simply 1/4" taller. I can match that with an Xacto and a Remflex gasket.
