picked up my manifolds from the coater today. had them ceramic coated. i think they look great.

OOOoooooooo....! Looks great, they will look good under the hood when all assembled. Too bad thermal barrier coatings are expensive, I'd be interested to see the inside coated with that, so most of the heat is transferred down stream and not all in the manifolds. Looking forward to seeing it all assembled.  -D.Idiot |

I would be interested in seeing the original hyperpak setup and headers with the starter installed in the bellhousing from the driver's side over the fender view, as I think the cars at that time had the direct drive starter (60-61?)and relocated solenoid which would not occupy the same space as a gear reduction starter (we typically think of as the normal mopar starter).But it is interesting that the rear manifold has a welded joint a couple inches above the flange (hopefully it isn't a repair because it got dropped there). -D.Idiot |

Guys, thanks for the comments! Rear manifold was cut before I got them, 1971! My hyper pak stuff ran in a hobby class roundy round 32 Studebaker. The rear was cut to clear steering column I was told. I am going to try the direct starter first and then that Dakota starter Dan spoke about. Cost was $150 here in Cedar Hill Texas. Crosslink Powder Coat. |

The rear section has an obvious weld joint above the flange.....but considering the rarity and uniqe nature of these exhaust manifolds they are a work of art and are neat as can be!These were made by MOPAR with the Hyperpac intake, so they gave themselves starter room. Richard Yup, Richard, even though Ma Mopar made them she still specified , in the install instructions, that the direct drive starter housing be indexed/rotated a certain way as to avoid interference with the rear manifold section as well as relocating the starter solenoid. While the exhaust pipes themselves are suspect as original design its a fair representation of the set up (the hypar pak stuff) as it would have appeared in a '60 Valiant. |
