I'm not 100% sure I have everything right but I'm coming up with a SCR of 9.6:1 and DCR of 8.9:1 using various online calculators. I'm hoping one of you fellas won't mind double checking for me in case I made a wrong entry or assumption. Here are my figures:

Untouched 62cc chambers (1967 head) will lose a little with a cleanup pass
3.44 bore (overbore of .040")
4.125" stroke (stock)
6.699" rod (stock)
replacement flat top pistons (0.0 cc dish/dome)
.023" compressed gasket (steel shim)
3.52" gasket bore (measured actual)
.050" piston to deck clearance (was .160" down with OE pistons before .110" cut on deck will verify this figure soon since I have new pistons)
39* @ .050" intake valve closing event (per OCG "346" mechanical cam card)

Like I said, not sure if I used a bogus figure somewhere or if I should have adjusted something for the intake closing event (lash?).

If my numbers are right, I think I'm on the very edge with this DCR number from this cam and pump gas (92 octane) but it's a place to start I suppose. I don't particularly care for them, but maybe I should just go with the thicker Felpro head gasket to play it safer??
(heavier car 35-3700lbs with manual trans and 3.23 gears for now)
Thanks for your time

I come-up with 9.631 SCR and 8.294 DCR using the KB-Silvolite website.
(Shim head gasket compressed at .020)

Not bad... but recheck that deck reading once your pistons arrive.
Also mock-up and check the Intake Valve closing point (IC) with the cam "degreed-in" and at lash. (I used 54 degree ABDC)
Finding the actual IC point at lash is important with an SL6.

I didn't account for the lash, thanks for mentioning that. So where does the 54* INT closing number come from (I noticed on the KB-Silv calculator shows add 15* to the INT closing but I didn't know if I had to add that or if their calculator does it for me).
And thanks for checking it looks a little better now

The 54 is your 39 @ .050 + the "add 15"
This is a "good approxamation" especially for a hydraulic cam but it is not as accurate as a true "at lash" check... like we can do with a mechanical cam.

OK, thanks Doc. May the build begin, finally :!: :D
EDIT - Oh wait, I don't get the head back for a few days and can't wait to degree the cam as a long block, so that means more math to figure the rocker ratio and lash. Will this work? I'm trying to get car done, engine in and running by the end of next week, little time for waiting on anything at this point.

Looking at the OCG 346 grind at 106, you might think about degreeing it in with a little advance instead of setting it 'straight up' (+4?) to get the most torgue out of the engine (heavy car/small engine philosophy-take 10 ft/lbs of low end torque over 10 hp it works better)...the DCR looks plenty fine for running plus or super...it might be OK for regular if you set the distributor up correctly. The cam will probably give up a couple " of Hg on the vacc gauge, and have a little lump to it.

That's good thinking there DI, bottom end would help a lot more. I was thinking of going with 100* (card says 102ICL) but with the lower compression than initially expected and to go through the trouble, a few more deg's seems better now right?

101-102 would be fine, I don't think I'd go more than 100...

You can bump the compression a little and tell the machine shop to cut .013 instead of a "clean up pass"...that's good to make your head a 60 cc instead of a 62 cc head.

I think your cam would be a little more happy at 10:1 SCR if going NA, but wouldn't go too far. I just put together a 9.66:1 SCR motor and installed an OCG 174...at 240@.050 the 9.6:1 is getting bled out at overlap and it isn't happy, I think If I had gone 10.5:1 it would probably be a little more in it's sweet spot.

Thanks for expanding on that, cutting a wee bit more on the head was contemplated earlier today but I told him to leave it there and carry on. I'm not sure where I'm at on his job list so I'll check in the morning to see if it's not tool late to ask for a different cut.

I also got the 100* max sentiment from Lou so I'm living by that now. It feels good that I'm past this hump finally and thank you guys for all of the advice.
