Post subject: | New wiring harness, no panel lights |
I recently swapped out the harness on a 72 Demon, and now I'm not getting any light in the instrument panel. I've checked everything a couple times over. There's one loose connector on the harness that I can't find a counterpart for and isn't in any wiring diagrams I have on hand (two slots at a 30 degree angle, orange and yellow wires), but other than that, I can't find anything out of place. The left turn indicator works, but the right doesn't. The circuit board looks a little marred near the multipin as well; not sure if it was like that before. Did I fry the circuit board somehow? Anything else it could be? Pretty new to this, I wouldn't be surprised if I overlooked something simple. |

There is a wire from the headlamp switch that powers the lights (pink color maybe?) I'd start checking there for power, then see if it's the circuit board/contacts. That unaccounted for 30 degree female connector is for an accessory (rear heated window defroster, or map lamp typically). Print out the 1972 Dart wiring diagrams here and trace out the light switch to instrument cluster wiring: http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=28 -D.Idiot |

If my memory serves me, the interior lighting that is controlled by the headlamp dimmer should have an orange wire color. Pink under the dash would be for flasher circuit I think? |

Pretty Close, looks like Tan at the fuse block to the switch, then it gets split for the column illumination and turns Orange at that junction for both Cluster and Column. Luckily it's not a '76, Tan/Orange/Black with lots of branches. -D.Idiot |
