Hey guys, ive got a few questions. First off, my #7 fuse blew and i tried finding the the problem. I found out that the trunk light and dome light were cracked or corroded and both belong to the #7 fuse. I removed the bulbs and that seemed to at least keep my fuse from blowing again. But when i went to put the ignition swith light there was sparks that chewed up the end of the bulb a bit. Ans thats when i realized that ive never really been sure how the ignition light works. Can someone explain how the ignition light works. It has this metal cover that covers the bulb a im not even sure which way thats suppose to go. Could that be causing the short?

That little light is supposed to aim towards & illuminate the ignition lock (so you can see where to stick the key into the lock cylinder) I never had one on my A-bodies but I'd assume it's also wired to the courtesy lite/fuse. Later Mopars I worked on also had a delay timer wired in to keep the light on for 20-30 seconds after you got in the car.
