Lessee.... High school through early college I either got the 'privledge' (beg, borrow, steal...) of 1)1968 Plymouth Valiant 100 225 /6 with 3 on the tree or 2)1976 Plymouth Feather Duster 225 /6 3spd+OD on floor B5 blue with Rallye Package... after college my parents had sold their mopars and gone to something else... so I got a: 3) 1978 Pontiac Phoenix 301-2v w/THM350(Nova Clone...43k on the clock for $1000) Wore that car out by 120k and upgraded to: 4) 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0L HO 'stripper' model It got rearended in the middle of the night on a deserted, well lit street by a drunk driver, and totalled... 5) 1971 Dodge Charger 'Topper' 383- '4v'/ A-727 & 3.23's Nice original 'green' car, but the previous owner decided to retrofit the tired 383 with a 1971 4v intake and 1971 'HP' exhaust manifolds... Sold it to two nice mopar guys who wanted to build up a 'fun' car.... 6) 1992 Dodge Ramcharger LE 5.2L Magnum A-518 AOD 3.55 gears, 'Police Model' Was a good hauling/camping' rig but $80 in gas a week commuting to work killed it and so I needed an economical car that I could have some fun with...and life goes 'full circle' at this point... 7)1976 Feather Duster parts car from Bothell,WA got crunched by a Ferd Exploder... 8)1976 Feather Duster finished this project with some tweaking to go, I daily drive this car and get 50% better mileage than my Ramcharger and have much more fun 'getting there'...more mods to go... If you have one you should have a back up incase it breaks and maybe you need to 'rob' some parts off another (or so said my grampa...) 9)1974 Space Duster came out of and 'Estate' in Snohomish, some rust, perfect stock 225 /6 A-230 3 on the 'floor' with 3.23 8 1/4" rear-end, and under 100k on the clock...timing chain was OEM and still tight like new... It was slightly abused by the 'estate' beneficiaries so after some tune-up and oil changes, and regular driving rod bearings 1,5,6 went bye-bye after a 3-2 down shift...the parts Feather Duster's 225 went into it, the 8 1/4" developed a bearing problem (fixable), so it had the 7 1/4" from the parts Feather transplanted, then it developed a ring and pinion problem, and a dry axle bearing...in went the 7 1/4" 2.76 rear out of my friend's 1974 parts Dart.... 10)???? still working toward the next step....maybe next year... -D.Idiot |

First car, 1963 Ford Galaxy. Broke the distributor shaft on the freeway. replaced it and it broke again on startup. Sold it through a friend. Next was a '57 Chevy BelAir four door. Installed a 327 and 4 speed. Sold it when I had trans problems. Then got a '57 Studebaker Silver Hawk from a friend for $50 and rebuilt it. Fantastic car, but sold it because complete restoration would cost more than the Gold Book value and I wanted to finish up the Dart. Picked up a '63 Dart GT Convertable from a junkyard in pieces in 1978 (still had the Stude). Did the body and paint in '84, full interior in '99. Needs full body & paint again. Has had various engines and trans, currently has a turbo'd 225, but problems with that are requiring me to think about building up a new motor from scratch. ![]() Turbo Motor ![]() "Daily Driver" is a '95 Chrysler Concorde, as the Dart has been in and out of tinkering stage for the last several years. Last purchase was Doug's Valchero, which needs so much I just use it for hauling wood and going to the dump. Not sure if I can ever afford to fix it up. Currently has a very tired 273/727. If I have to replace it, I will change it back to a slant. |

First car, '70 Fury 111 2dr hardtop, 383. Dad bought used in 11/72. Gave it to me in late '84. Blew original engine, blew 2nd engine in California, found 400, rebuilt it and drove it another 100K. Drunk driver hit it and totaled it (along with my back) in 10/99. 2nd car, my current '72 Satellite Custom 4dr sedan, 225 slant six. Paid 5 bills, replaced the master cylender and transmission to make it a great driver. Friend gave mea low mile slant from a '73 Dart in exchange for parts from my wrecked Fury. The original engine had terrible blow by (probably a broken ring). Thats it, guess I'm loyal to my heaps! |

Interesting cars I have owned: 2 64 Mustangs 66 MGB 73 MGB 68 TBird Coupe 64 Valiant Sig 200 Conv I was looking for another 64 Mustang when I came across an ad for a Valiant conv. I called the guy and asked him if all of the chrome was there and in what condition was the car. He said it was all there and in decent restorable condition but hadn't been started in 2 years. I drove over becasue I had never remembered even seeing a Valiant Conv. He opens this barn/garage and inside are 8 cars he is selling (which is another story). Anyway, I walk around the Valiant, after he pulls the cover off of it, I think, this is one very unique car, I own this. The drive shaft is laying on the ground next to the car and I say does it start? He tells his kid to go and get a battery and some gas and lets try it. The kid installs the batt and primes the carb. The /6 startd on the second try and purred like a kitten after sitting for 2 years. Since the driveshaft was out, I figured I'd have to pay a bunch to tow the thing all the way to my house. No problem says the guy, give me $1300 (what he was asking) and I'll deliver it tomorrow . I really didn't want to pay $1300 for the car but I had already figured that I was going to have to rebuild a motor and tow a car home anyway so I figured it was money already spent. The tow was about 40 miles. I said "done" and have been a fond amirer of Valiants ever since. I live near San Bernardino, CA and every year we have a huge Route 66 car show. Over the last 6 years, I have never seen a Val Sig 200 Conv and have only seen a few Barracudas at the event. Mustangs are a dime a dozen. I'm so glad I took the route less travelled. |
