My car is a 1969 dodge dart custom it has a 225 slant six what transmission does it have?

probably a 904 torqueflite but you can tell by the shape of the pan.

It's a 904 I don't know if it better but reason I'm asking is bcuz I bought a 1984 360 and was wondering if It wld be better to use that one (if possible) or the one it came with but I don't know what transmission it is:/ all I no is it was a van.

the 727 is better. that's what I would go with if I was running a 340. If I was spending the money to do the project, I would want the best parts. And with the 727, that's exactly what you would be getting. If you were going to a 318 and didn't plan on doing too much to it, I'd say leave the 904. But with a 340 project? 727.

The V-8 trans will not bolt up to the slant six engine. The patterns are different between the two.
One could get a 727TQ with the correct pattern for the slant, but they aren't really all that common anymore, being as the slant hasn't been made since '87.
That 904 will service you well, as long as you take reasonable care of it.

Hold it.....just re-read everything. It sounds like you're doing a slant-to-V8 conversion. If so, use the trans that came with your V8. You will also have to use the torque converter that came with that 360, as the 360 is an externally balanced engine, and some of the balancing is done on the converter.

But the transmission it has will I be able to get fixed for WAY BETTER performance like down the strip ?
