Post subject:  Torque converter problem

Hi everyone, i'm looking for a good advise concerning my torque converter here's my problem.

I just changed my slant six for another cause i had 0 compression on 1 piston so it happend that somebody that i know found me a 22 000 miles slant six comming from a 63 fargo with standard transmission, the guy told me the car was running smooth and didn't have any problem so here's the problem, when i came to replace the torque it couldn't fit cause it is to big for the new one the crank is smaller, the center pin that is goign into the crank is 46 mm and the hole for the new crank is 40mm, i tried to grind my torque and i broke it.
some other guy told me that there is no way that i could find a new torque for my slant six cause there where some difference in the transmission from one year to the other, WHAT SHOULD I DO.
my car is a 1968 dodge dart 270 and the new block is commin from a 1963 truck dodge fargo, thanks. :(

Outside of swapping the crank, or removing the crank and having a machinist reaming the crank pocket, your best choice is a custom
torque convertor.... You will probably be talking to Hughes, etc... to get one that has the small snout of the pre-68 crank and the splines to match your 1968 A-904.

Either way it's going to cost a couple hundred $, to fix it.

Actually, it is possible to swap the front section of the trans internals to the early pieces, and use the early converter. But I would reccomend the custom converter. There are several companies that can do this.
PS: Don't forget to swap the oil pan and oil pump pick up, from your old engine to the new one. You will also most likely have to use your original carb.
