Has any one ever tried modifiying a 1bbl manifold to mount a2bbl sideways and making some kind of addaptor to make it work [fit]? |

people have modified stock manifolds by welding to get one to fit, but as adaptors go the plate would choke the 2 barrel and not allow it to work quite right, the single in the manifold won't take the 350 cfm flow either. If you did try and adaptor it would need to have the proper height to allow a 15 degree wall angle/transition to provide the best, blend/flow of emulsion from one end to the other without causing the fuel to drop out and ride the walls, further choking the available area for best flow.-D.Idiot |

![]() ![]() ![]() This is my setup, stock aluminum 1 barrel intake modded by cutting the flange off, opening up the hole, and screwing and epoxying a homemade adapter on. This is an Autolite 2100 but the mounting is the same for a Holley. This requires a lot of fabrication and completely custom throttle and kickdown linkage. Kevin |

Kevin, the 64 thousand dollar question??????? How does it work? What would you do different on the next one? |

I also took a stock aluminum 1 barrel and had a 1/2" thick plate welded to it. I got a 2 barrel gasket and cut the plate to the correct size. A local welding shop had the plate in the scrap pile and only charged $15 to weld it on. The 2 barrel makes a world of difference on my truck. Rick |

If I was to do it again, I would buy and modify a 2 barrel spacer to fit instead of making my own ( way too much work for the money saved) and I would figure out a way to grind the intake surface flatter than I was able to get it with a hand grinder. I had some vacuum leak problems initially. It seems to run fine although it is an ongoing project and not on the road yet. It starts easy, idles well, and has good throttle response. Kevin |

I have a modified stock cast iron 1 bbl manifold on my 66 Cuda, similar to the one in the picture. But I mounted the carb with the float bowl toward the head. I milled the manifold flat, and made a 3/8 in thick plate to match the Holley bolt battern. I "spray" welded the plate to the manifold. Mine has two holes, instead of a single. Been running it with a 500 cfm Holley since 1977. |
