Here is the photo. It was a welded nut. I stopped at Lowe's and got a sanding block and cleaned up the nut and the wire loop from the harness, plus a 1/4" bolt as described. Fit right in there nice and snug. Lights come right on now!

Okay, as a bunch of you have seen I have a 72 Dart Swinger. It definitely needs some work. I replaced a bad fuse (C/LTR, so I assume it was cigarette lighter mainly, but the dome light also kicked on) and did all my electrical tests. Working: Turn signals Front and back. Rear Side marker Left and Right Brake Lights Reverse Lights Not Working: Headlights Parking Lights Front side markers left and right. So the conclusion I've come to is that something is wonky in the front end area. I've eliminated the issue being the switch since the rear's work, am I wrong? What should i check first? |

Okay SUPER odd. I accidentally left the lights all on when I cleaned up what I was doing and came inside. about 20 minutes later I let the dog out to Pee and the headlights and front side markers and parking lights were all working. They turn on and off, high beams and low work. So Will they stop working after they "cool down" again. What is causing that? |

Sounds like you might have a bad ground at the wiring harness for the headlights and marker lights...time to find it, scrub it with a wire brush and reconnect it...if it's shorting to make the connection another route something may go puff after a while. FYI. |

Will do. I think i see the ground post. Its between the bay and the grill area. Its missing the screw/bolt, is just barely touching it... Anyone know what size it takes? I tried the few spare screws I had in my toolbox and all were too big or too small. Maybe a bolt and nut instead? |

Either will work, but it's more important to clean the hardware thoroughly where it bolts together and where the ground post bolts to the sheet metal as well. Use some grease on those connections as well, and you'll never need to worry about them again. Oh, and welcome to the wonderful, wacky world of intermittent failures! BC |

Well it actually depends on the connection, My '67 had a 3/8" self tapping fine thread body screw behind the headlight buckets as the ground connection. The 70's A-body improved this by welding a thick square metal nut to the radiator support and the ground was a 1/4" NC tapered body bolt similar to the radiator mounting bolts (but without the fender washer). I can tell you if it's the welded nut, that will be like driving a #10 tek screw through 10 gauge plate... Can you take a picture of the location so we can be more specific? -D.Idiot |

Was saying the headlamps don't come on Tail Lights are working, turn signals working interior knob twist turns on interior courtesy floor light and the dimmer works for the panel lights seems a bit simple for an answer and the board is always helpful on this stuff |
