Apparently I have a high lift cam in the used motor I bought and the adjustment screws on the #6 rockers are hitting my valve cover even with two cork gaskets. Which valve cover has the most clearance? The aftermarket ones I have found all indicate "stock height" |

What you really need is a set of Smith Bros pushrods of the proper length....shorter pushrods are indicated. |

I'm trying to see how much lift you really have there, as I didn't have problems with valve cover clearance on running a .539 lift cam or the .550 lift cam I mocked up. Both worked perfectly fine and had lots of clearance using the stock late valve covers (70-80). |

skelengerj, The tallest valve cover I have found is the Spectre Chrome cover. You may want to make your own baffles though....when using this cover. |

Thanks all for the replies. I would love to user a shorter adjustment screw, but these must be aftermarket rockers as they have an extremely large screw (it is a 7/16 x 20 hex head with a locking nut), seems to be custom order stuff. I'm running a 1963 valve cover are the later years a little taller? If I decide I need to shorten the push rods, what is the best way to determine the length required? |
