On the upper ball joints for an original 9" drum 67 A body, are they usually press-in or bolt-in? Trying to get a jump on the project before the new parts get here, and don't want to try unbolting a press-in or vice-versa. Thank you for any ideas. |

They should be a thread in like all late mopar ball joints. You will need the specific ball joint socket for that size (and I think it uses a 3/4"drive) about $50-70 from K-D tools. It's somewhat easier to leave the UCA bolted in the car, and wrench the balljoint out using a 3/4" drive cheater bar or ratchet with a piece of pipe for a handle...most shops use a HD (high torque value) impact wrench to unthread them. (just for perspective the late larger ball joints take 150 ft lbs+ of torque to install, the last set I did I used a torque wrench to see what it took to get one to unthread and I was at 210 ft lbs-I also had to brace my feet under the front unbody frame to get enough grunt on it to get it to move...) Good Luck, -D.Idiot |

OK, Thanks. At least I can procrastinate more on fixing my press, in that case. Sounds like a fight to get them loose, all right. |

When I was stationed in 29 palms I had to replace the ball joints on my 70 Duster. They were screw in didnt have the socket and couldn't be had locally, (living in the middle of the desert) they have 4 flat sides so I was able to use a pipe wrench. There was no rust involved so it was easy in and out. Dave |
