I had my '67 slant rebuilt. The long block was delivered last week.

The timing card that came with my long block says:

Performance 254S grind

Duration 254 @ 0.050 212

Lift @ valve 0.435

Lash @ valve 0.012

Only 1 valve lash indicated....so, I asked the rebuilder and they confirmed that the valve lash should be set at 0.012 for both intake and exhaust (hot). I realize factory specs are 0.01 in and 0.02 ex, but has anyone had a cam/rebuild where the valve lash was the same for both in and ex? Does this seem OK; or is the exhaust usually always bigger gap than intake? Just need a reality check here...

thanks,

BG

It's because comp uses chevy lobes and do not differentiate between the two lobe's ramps on the RV cam, the mopar lobe ramps are a little different intake and exhaust and thus the need for different lash settings (also the exhaust valve heats up faster so a little more lash is sometimes needed there)

i have found that the comp 252 prefers a little looser lash .013 or so and it gets very cackly if it's too tight .010.
