Specific question here:

I need to know what specific oil breather cap my '63 225 came with. My original is gone: I've been using an aftermarket cap. The aftermarket looks...well...:tsk:

Hunting for an original. My 60 V200 has an original cap that has the stabilizing 'prongs' riveted to the inside HEAD of the cap.

Picked up what looked like an original cap only to find the prongs riveted to a metal bridge inside the cap. Put it on and noticed it stood too tall on the 63 valve cover neck, which is about 1.5" tall. Noticed also the 170 valve cover neck only stood about 1.25" tall.

Does anyone have a 63 Dart with the original engine/oil breather cap who would take some measurements for me of the length of the neck passageway inside of their cap, and inform me how their prongs attach?

Or I could cut the valve outlet neck down on my valve cover to fit the extra 'original' cap I have, but I'd rather not do that because then I'd still have to re-insert new oiled steel wool somehow into that cap, and the hassle almost looks not worth it.

Not sure if you ever got a response for this, but here are a few pics of my '63 oil cap:

You can see that the prongs are connected to the inside center using a rivet. The depth is one inch.

Thanks WyoCowboy for the measurements. Ended up picking up an original 63 cap that fits over my valve cover neck perfectly. Kinda odd that the filler neck on the valve cover and the inside of the cap, would be different lengths for different years, but I guess they did that. I forget what car I pulled that incorrect-length cap from. Must have been something other than a 63. Would not have thought they'd be different.
