I've searched around and could not find a photo. Perhaps because I don't know the proper name, however can someone provide a photo of the Timing plate or bracket which is used in conjunction with the timing mark on the balancer? I'm going based on feel more than anything else, but I couldn't tell you what my timing is because my plate has worn away. Cleaned it up and some notches can be seen, but no indication as to what they each stand for. A Photo would be great. I assume they are the same, but if they're not, one that matches a 72 slant six from a Dart. Thanks in advance! |

Well, if nothing else, I have some photos for you...... I know of two different timing tabs, one bolts on and one is welded to the front cover. I hope someone else will come along and verify how many variations there are. So, the first two pics show the bolt-on style on my '66 and the second two show the welded style I found on my '67. I would take a guess your is the welded type. |

There is also a cover that has a bracket welded near the center of the timing cover, and the tab bolts to that bracket. It has a tube as part of the tab to hold a magnetic pickup for electronic diagnostic equipment. There might be others, as I have not looked at the setups on the "80's engines. |

Thanks Charlie, I think I found one like that via google. Being a slant-noob, I have yet to see one of these in the wild; |

the tube type first seen on 1979 slants is standard after that and can be found on 80's truck slant sixes as well. -D.Idiot |

Okay cool. Believe mine is welded(haven't really looked how it was attached) on the cover towards the passengers side. But seeing that the large marks are 10 and 10 is exactly what I needed. Thank you all so much! |
