Post subject: | Installed distributor |
I recall reading on a post here, that when installing the distributor, with the engine at TDC, the rotor should be pointed just below (clockwise past) #1 tower. This is consistent with my findings. At TDC, I can install the distributor with the button either just before #1 tower or just after, but not dead on. Just after OK? thanks, BG |

You install it which ever is closest then rotate the distributor the direction needed to get tdc after installing...you may have to adjust the bracket to get it to roll that direction...I try to install so it's a above the #1 button (toward the engine or 'advanced'), that way I can roll the crank back and get a little more initial timing from the get go and can dial in more as required.-D.Idiot |

I have a special cap with #1 cut completely away to see the rotor. This is for intall only. I can see clearly if the gear picked the correct tooth upon install. Tip: number your plug wires with either label maker or plastic after market tabs. Then pull plug wires from plugs only, and remove cap and wires together. Getting that stuff out of the way simplifies distributor work. Re-install is follow the numbers. Sam |
