I've got a few laying around that were only used for a matter of days. Still you can see the outline of the carb bottom. Some are a rubberish material and others are paperish. I want to try a different carb as an experiment. And what is the preferable gasket for the 1945? |

I've reused a base gasket before when taking the carb off to clean it and such. Never after an extended period of time though. Might as well try--not a big deal if it doesn't work. |

Yea I'll reuse one for my experiment. I can't seem to get rid of an off idle glitch so I am trying another carb to see if it has any affect. Starting to think the distributor needs work, but this test may firm up that notion more. |

I coat my gasket in grease or anti seize so when you pull off the carb it doesn't ruin gasket. I do it with all sorts of cars especially vws with ported gaskets.. no probs. |

sure. If you are scared, soak it in gas for a few minutes. then install. I reused head gaskets before with no ill effects. I was POOR back then but its hardly worth it today. |
