I recently picked up an 833OD from a guy. He said it came out of a 82 truck. It has an aluminum bellhousing that is mounted to an iron cased tranny though. I was just wondering if this sounded like the original setup. I didnt think they put aluminum housings on the trucks.

The late trucks (1981-1987) can have a mix of parts but so far 100% have had aluminum cases, the last truck transmission I pulled had an aluminum body but an iron tailshaft...

The A-833OD was more of the mileage tranny, if you had to do serious towing you opted for the NP-435 tranny...

I believe all the Overdrive bellhousings were aluminum ('75 on).
